Two weeks ago, you heard our friend and colleague Bob Adams reflect on his 45 years in the affordable housing industry in his retirement announcement. We are immensely grateful for Bob’s guidance, wisdom, and keen leadership of HousingForward since almost the beginning.
His are clearly big shoes to fill. So we, along with the board of directors, decided that replacing Bob and stewarding HousingForward into this new decade required the work of two people. Starting this month, HousingForward will be led by Erica Sims and Jonathan Knopf as co-directors.
Erica, as Co-Director for Strategy and Sustainability, will oversee the strategic direction of the organization. Jonathan, as Co-Director for Programs, will direct research and education efforts. Together, these two roles will regularly collaborate on HousingForward’s events, communications, and overall presence throughout the Commonwealth.
Shared leadership might still be uncommon, but it’s not totally rare among nonprofits. And, of course, the two of us aren’t alone. We would be derelict in our duties if we didn’t mention the full village it requires to make HousingForward successful: our remarkable staff and board truly make this organization work.
Together, we’re ready to work with you to make affordable housing a reality for every Virginian.
Looking forward,
Erica and Jonathan
