The Treatment plan: Leveraging New Housing Resources Post-COVID

How should housers take full advantage of increased post-COVID resources to make sustained, equitable improvements in housing opportunities for all Virginians?

Someone says it every day: the pandemic has changed virtually everything, both in our lives and in the housing industry. We’re still learning to work with those changes—and more of them are coming all the time.

Now, it seems that housing is starting to get the attention we’ve always wanted, and plenty of funding to boot. But although these resources seem abundant, we still don’t have everything we need to overcome all of our housing challenges.

In November 2021, HousingForward brought the spirit of HousingX to the Virginia Governor’s Housing Conference. We broke down what resources we have and what can be done with them; what we need, and how we can get it. We convened four moderated discussions to drill into such topics as messaging, local and regional roles, scaling up, and cross-sector collaboration.
