Give us your feedback on needed federal housing policy resources.
Last week, we announced our initiative to help Virginia communities better navigate federal housing programs. We’re still collecting valuable feedback to shape our approach.
Federal housing policy shapes our communities in countless ways—from who can afford to live where to which neighborhoods receive critical investments. But following federal changes can be daunting and the breadth of federal funding that impacts housing in Virginia is vast.
We want to change that.
Why This Matters Now
In today’s rapidly evolving federal housing landscape, Virginia communities need clear information to respond effectively to policy shifts. HousingForward Virginia is stepping up to bridge this gap—but we can’t do it without partners.
What We’re Building Together
We’re developing resources to help Virginians:
- Translate complex federal policy into plain language
- Track federal housing investments across Virginia
- Connect federal policies to local housing outcomes
- Provide timely analysis when housing policies change
Rather than designing these tools in isolation, we want to create them collaboratively with partners throughout the Commonwealth.
We Still Need Your Expertise
We’ve begun receiving valuable input, but we need more voices. If you haven’t already, please take our 2-minute survey to help shape these resources. Tell us:
- What federal housing information would be most valuable to your work?
- What formats would make this information most accessible?
- What gaps exist in your current access to federal housing policy information?
How This Advances Our Mission
This expanded federal policy focus directly advances our strategic goals:
- Generate original research that simplifies complex issues
- Strengthen our ability to drive widespread adoption of proven solutions
- Expand our values-based partnerships through strategic outreach
HFV is uniquely positioned to provide clear, non-partisan analysis of how federal policies affect our state — especially during times of policy change and uncertainty.
Join Us in This Work
This initiative requires additional resources. You can support us as:
- Foundations and Institutional Funders: Help us build robust tracking tools
- Individual Donors: Enable us to maintain independence as we navigate policy changes
- Housing Organizations: Provide feedback to ensure our tools meet real community needs
Together, we can position Virginia communities to not just understand federal housing policy changes, but to leverage them effectively.
