A month has passed since we hosted the HousingX conference in Newport News. As one attendee put it, “I loved learning about the examples offered by Mr. Moody and Ms. Mackay, in particular. [I learned] that in various places across the country people with determination and a vision are making a difference in the lives of others. What a fabulous conference—I felt very privileged to attend.”
HousingForward Virginia hosted over twenty speakers and presenters and hundreds of attendees during two days of workshops, xChats and rapid-fire pitch sessions known as 20×20s. Attendees had a chance to hear from national speakers and innovators from around the country. Networking and information sharing between attendees was high. We were able to tour a physical Pallet Shelter set up at the conference as well as a tiny home HomeShed that was raffled by the local Habitat affiliate during the conference.
And the learning, sharing and inspiration doesn’t end there. HousingX is an opportunity for us in the industry to hone our own innovation skills. Check out photos and videos from the event here. Over 94% of attendees said they were “very likely” or “likely” to attend the next event. As one attendee shared, attending HousingX made them feel: “We are not alone in our innovative efforts” and “… there is a group of people who are committed to bringing actual change in the housing industry by hosting the best conference that I have ever attended in 7 years of doing this work.”
While you will have to wait two years for the next HousingX, we are always interested in hearing of innovations to be showcased at future events.
