Karin has more than 20 years of fund development and administrative experience in the nonprofit sector.

She spent 15 years in Washington, DC, serving as Development Director for Mentors, Inc., where she gained expertise in development strategies, communications, grant writing, and organizational leadership. She further honed those skills while helping a grassroots mentoring organization – Mentoring to Manhood – obtain its first-ever grants, and be recognized as one of the best small nonprofits in the Washington, DC area by the Catalog for Philanthropy. Her focus on grant writing and love of tennis then resulted in a three-year stint as grant writer and coach at the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation.
She has a B.A. from the University of Washington in Political Science and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Georgetown University. She proudly became a Richmond resident in 2016.
